Terms of use
Last updated: [TODO: date]
Tier Lens ("we", "us") is run by [TODO: the parent's full legal name, or the LLC's name]. By using tierlens.com you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
1. What Tier Lens is (and isn't)
Tier Lens publishes research and opinions about consumer products for people who sell online. Our grades, reports and emails are general information, not financial, legal or business advice. We don't guarantee that any product will sell, make money, or be free of legal or safety problems. Always check prices, stock, shipping, patents, trademarks and product-safety rules yourself before you buy or sell anything.
2. Using our content
You can read and use our lists and overviews for your own business. You can't copy, resell or republish our overviews or lists in bulk, or scrape the site. Sharing a link or a screenshot of the free ranked list with credit is fine.
3. Age
You must be at least 13 to use the site. To buy a paid plan or preorder you must be 18 or older, or have your parent or guardian's permission and have them complete the payment.
4. Accounts
You sign in with a link sent to your email, or with Google. Keep access to your email account safe, because anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. One account per person. You need an account to preorder or use paid plans. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
5. Paid plans
Casual and Pro are subscriptions billed through Stripe, monthly or (from launch day) yearly. You can cancel anytime in your account; you keep access until the end of the month or year you've paid for, and we don't charge you again after that. Pro Lifetime is a single payment for Pro features and Pro limits for as long as Tier Lens runs. Weekly research limits reset every week and are shown on the plans.
Yearly plans (after launch: Casual $199/year, Pro $299/year, saving 34% and 38% compared with 12 monthly payments) renew automatically each year. We email you a reminder with the price and a link to cancel at least 15 days before every yearly renewal.
Changing plans: you can move up at any time by paying the difference. Moving from monthly to yearly credits the unused part of your month; moving from yearly Pro to Pro Lifetime costs the Pro Lifetime price minus the unused part of your year.
Refunds: payments aren't refundable. Cancel anytime and you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. There are two exceptions: the Pro Lifetime shutdown guarantee below, and any refund the law requires. If Tier Lens shuts down, yearly members also get back the unused part of their year.
Lifetime shutdown guarantee: if Tier Lens shuts down within 1 year of launch day, every Lifetime member gets $200 back, whether they paid the pre-release or the after-launch price. We'll email Lifetime members before shutting down and refund the money to the card they paid with (or another way if that card no longer works). This guarantee only covers a shutdown; it isn't a refund for changing your mind.
6. Pre-release preorders
Before Tier Lens launches, you can preorder a paid plan. Here's exactly how it works:
- Nothing is charged when you preorder. Stripe saves your card. We never see or store your full card number.
- The goal is $600 by the deadline shown on the preorder form, counting money we can actually spend. Each preorder counts once: Casual $20, Pro $30, Pro Lifetime $40 (the other $200 of a Pro Lifetime payment is held for the shutdown guarantee).
- If the goal is reached, Tier Lens launches by the latest launch date shown on the preorder form at the latest. We email you the launch date first, and your first charge happens on launch day: Casual $20/month or Pro $30/month from then on, or Pro Lifetime $240 once.
- Pre-release prices stay locked in for as long as your subscription stays active. If you cancel and come back later, the price at that time applies (after launch: Casual $25/month, Pro $40/month, Pro Lifetime $400).
- If the goal isn't reached by the deadline, we extend it once, to 30 days after the first deadline, and email every member. There is never a second extension. If the goal still isn't reached, nothing is charged and we delete your saved card within 14 days.
- You can change your plan or cancel your preorder anytime before launch from your account (or by emailing support@tierlens.com).Canceling deletes your saved card, and you'll never be charged.
- Everything listed on the plans launches together. If we can't launch it all by the latest launch date shown on the preorder form, nobody is charged and you can cancel for free.
7. Changes and availability
We may change these terms or the site. If we make a big change to paid plans, we'll email subscribers before it takes effect. The site may sometimes be unavailable.
8. Limits of liability
To the extent the law allows, Tier Lens isn't liable for losses from decisions you make using our content, including products you buy, sell or advertise. [TODO: parent review, ideally a lawyer]
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [TODO: state], USA.
